Hijama is an ancient and traditional treatment that has been practiced as a medical procedure to seek cure from many illnesses. Hijama is an Arabic word which means wet cupping or bloodletting. Hijama is one of the fastest and most effective ways to detoxify the human body by releasing the accumulated toxins from underneath the skin. It also helps to improve blood circulation and boosts the immune system, as well as helping to cure many health conditions including sports injuries and body aches and pains. Hijama is a safe method of healing and a sunnah, effective for many medical and spiritual conditions. i.e black magic (sihar), evil eye (ayn) and jinn possession/affliction (talabbus/al-mass).

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Hijama/wet cupping therapy performed?
We start our sessions by giving the patient a medical form/questionnaire to fill in so as to ascertain a full understanding of the patient’s medical history. This form is then used in our one to one consultation to devise a full and holistic treatment plan for the patient to best suit their needs. After assessing the patient we mutually agree on the locations of the cups to be applied and the quantity based on the patient’s health conditions and their body’s capability.
The treatment procedure is carried out by first disinfecting the area where we intend to apply the cups to avoid any contamination or infection when the incisions are made. We then apply the cups with a gentle pressure or suction using a hand pump. This stage is called dry cupping, which will stimulate the blood circulation and make deep tissue massage whilst accumulating the toxins in the applied area. The cups are kept on for up to a minute or until there appears a discolouration on the skin to a pinkish/reddish colour. The cups are then removed and tiny and superficial scratches are made on the surface of the skin. The cups are then reapplied in the same manner as they were initially applied, the process of which creates a vacuum for the blood to be drained out into the cups. This stage is called wet cupping. During this stage the cups are left for up to 10-12 minutes after which they are removed and the area cleaned. In the final step we apply olive oil to the area which has natural anti-septic properties and acts as a moisturiser which will also help alleviate the itchy sensations that are commonly associated with the Hijama process.

We assure you that our practitioners are qualified and have a wealth of experience having treated tens of thousands of patients for many years with great success stories.

What can it help with?
Hijama helps to treat many health conditions such as bodily aches and pains, sports injuries, gout, arthritis, migraines/headaches, poor circulation, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, stress and anxiety, insomnia, memory problems, black magic, evil eye, skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema, infertility, impotency, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) peptic ulcer, constipation, Hepatitis, cholesterol, epilepsy, autism, multiple sclerosis, vertigo and lack of concentration, allergies, asthma, immunity disorder and many more…).
Is it painful?
Hijama is a therapeutic procedure which involves suction of the cups and the incisions to the surface of the skin which can cause some discomfort. However, some areas on the body can be more sensitive than others. It is important to bear in mind that each individual will have varying pain thresholds to the scratches.
How long does each treatment session take?
We allocate 45 minutes for each appointment. The actual treatment takes between 30-40 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
We recommend a minimum of 3 sessions with a 3-4 week gap. However, with some cases and certain health conditions it can take up to 6-8 consecutive sessions. After that, it is recommended to be done once every 3-4 months for a person to maintain a good and healthy lifestyle.
When is the preferred time to have cupping therapy performed?
Hijama/ Wet cupping for medical reasons can be performed at any time; however some prefer to have Hijama performed at particular times of the lunar month for detox or for the sake of sunnah, as it is recommended by our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on the so called sunnah dates:
The Messenger (Peace be upon him) said: “Whoever performs cupping (Hijama) on the 17th, 19th or 21st day (of the Islamic lunar month) then it is a cure for every disease.’
[Saheeh Sunan abu Dawud 3861]
Do you treat men and women?
Yes we are able to take appointments for males and females.
Do you treat under 18’s?
We normally treat our patients from the age of 18+. However, if anyone under the age of 18 requires treatment, we provide a consent form to be signed by their parents or guardians.
Are there any side effects?
There are no side effects for Hijama. There can however be bodily reactions to the treatment like the cupped area may feel sore and itchy. Some patients may feel slightly weak or drained after losing some blood. We provide each patient with an aftercare leaflet that has some instructions for the patient to follow to aid their recovery.
Patients that may be suffering from spiritual afflictions/conditions may react to Hijama with the following symptoms during or after treatment; headaches, vomiting, involuntary body movements, fainting and other reactions depending on the type of affliction. It is important to note that these are expected reactions for such patients and is a sign of the effectiveness of the treatment.
What do I need to do before my treatment?
Prior to your appointment time we request that you fast for 3 hours, this will help with better blood drainage and will prevent the patient from experiencing nausea during the treatment. Diabetic patients who are unable to fast can drink water and have a light meal if needed.

I came to see brother Mohammed in Dar ul Hikmah as I had extreme back pain. I walked into a very clean office space with a treatment room which is separate. Brother Mohammed explained to me everything in detail including the procedure and what its benefits are. After the treatment I was given a leaflet which included information about what to eat and what not to eat for the next 48 hours.
The procedure eased my pains a lot.I have been seeing brother Mohammed on a regular basis since.Raihan Ahmed
